The another stake race is The Preakness Stakes also an American Grade 1 race. The race type of the Preakness Stakes is thoroughbred horse race for three year old horses, which held on the third Saturday in May of every year. The race has held at Pimlico Race course in Baltimore, Maryland. The Preakness was first held on May 27 in the year of 1873. The first African American jockey George Spider Anderson had won the Preakness Race in the year of 1889. In the order of Triple Crown races the Preakness comes after the Kentucky Derby

The Preakness Award was given to the Woodlawn vase for the first time and he want allowed to keep it, so finally a half size reproduction of the trophy given to winners permanently. The Preakness was televised for first time by CBS (Columbia Broadcasting System). The Preakness is sometimes referred to at “the race for the black-eyed Susans”.

The winner of the race gets the prize money of US $1 million .In the year of 1918  26 horses entered in the race which was run in to two divisions but now the race is limited to only 14 horses. The Preakness has been usually run at seven different distances. People from all over the world come to see the race.
