The South Carolina University has 19 varsity sports teams which also known as the Gamecocks. The University varsity teams compete at the Division 1 level of the NCAA. The South Carolina Gamecocks men’s basketball team represents the University of South Carolina and it competes in the Southeastern Conference. The team won the NIT in 2005 and 2006 and claimed a share of the 2009 SEC Eastern division title. The current coach of the team is Darrin Horn, he is playing since 2 years. The home arena of the team is Colonial Life Arena.

The colors of the team are garnet and black and the nickname is Gamecocks. The team has won regular season championships in different years. They had won the conference’s tournament championship in 1993. The women’s basketball team represents the University of South Carolina. The team got achievements under the head coach of Nancy Wilson. The current head coach is Dawn Staley. The team is playing their home games at the Colonial Life Arena.

The current 2009-10 South Carolina men’s team represents the University of South Carolina. They are playing under the current head coach. On January 26, 2010 the team has won their first game in school history. The team is playing home games in the 18,000 seat Colonial Life Arena in Columbus, South Carolina.
