The Fighting Illini which is also known as The Illini is the intercollegiate athletic teams of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The University is offering the 10 men’s and 11 women’s varsity sports. The Illinois men’s basketball team has to be ranked number one in the polls since Lou Henson’s “Flying Illini” of 1989. They have won the Big Ten Tournament and have become the number one seed in the 2005 NCAA Tournament. The team’s Basketball Arena where they playing their home game at Assembly Hall, which has located at Urban Champaign campus in Champaign.

The colors of the team are orange and blue. The Illinois Fighting Illini men’s basketball team and the women’s basketball team are an NCAA division 1 college basketball team which is competing in the Big Ten Conference. The head coach of the team is Bruce Weber and the assistant coaches are Wayne McClain, Jay Price and Jerrance Howard. The head coach of the women’s basketball is the Jolette Law and the assistant coaches of the team are Lisa Cermigano, Tamika Louis and Patrick Klein.

The men’s basketball has first played in the year of 1891 and the women’s basketball began in 1892 at Smith College. The 2009-10 Illinois fighting Illini men’s basketball team and women’s basketball team represents the University of Urban Champaign in the 20091-0 season. It is the 36th year of women’s basketball. The fighting Illini are the part of the big 10 and also they are participating to win their second Big ten championship and the NCAA championship.
