Heat gets more stronger with entry of Howard
National Basketball Association (NBA) veteran power-forward Juwan Howard (with ball) is the newest member of the Miami Heat in the next season of the premier professional basketball league in the planet.
The Miami Heat is not yet finished strengthening its roster for the forthcoming season of the National Basketball Association (NBA).
After retaining the services of Heat superstar guard Dwayne "Flash" wade and acquiring NBA superstars former
Cleveland Cavaliers superstar forward Lebron "King' James and
Toronto Raptors superstar power-forward Chris Bosh, the team just acquired one of the most reliable NBA veteran available in the free-agency market.
The Heat finally signed into a contract NBA superstar Juwan Howard after 14 years of waiting for him to join the NBA franchise.
It can be recalled that the Heat already signed Howard into a $100 million seven-year contract in July 1996 but the agreement did not materialized after the NBA voided it for violating the salary cap.
Howard revealed he is excited to play with the Heat in the next NBA season since he knew his long dream for an NBA championship is closer to reality if he plays with the team and its newly forced big-three.
The superstar power-forward vowed to work hard so that he can contribute to the quest of the Heat to dethrone the
Los Angeles Lakers as champion in the next NBA season.
With his signing, Howard becomes the 12th player under contract by the Heat for 2010-11, the sixth newcomer to join the rebuilt roster.
Miami will be the ninth team for Howard, who will begin his 17th
NBA season this fall.
He appeared in 73 games with Portland last season and averaged 6.0 points, making 27 starts.
For his career, Howard has averaged 14.3 points and 6.5 rebounds. Among active players, he ranks fourth in games (1,116), 15th in points (15,957) and 10th in rebounds (7,251).
But his playoff career is largely nonexistent: Howard has appeared in just 29 playoff games (his teams are 9-20), and he's been out of the first round of the postseason only once.
Wade for his part is very happy with the decision of Howard to play for the team in the next NBA season since it further solidify their front-court which already have Udonis Haslem, Chris Bosh, Zydrunas Ilgauskas and now Howard.
The superstar guard is if Howard plays his 100 percent he can contribute hugely for the Heat once the new season of the NBA ushers in.
The star-studded line-up of the Heat makes them as a legitimate contender for the NBA crown next year which is music to the ears of the countless fans of the Heat around the world.
