The Hoyas looked sensational in winning the first three games of the Big East tournament, before losing to West Virginia in the championship, and appeared to have positioned themselves as a legitimate Final Four threat.
However, luck is definitely not on their side this NCAA basketball season.
Chris Wright led the third-seeded Hoyas (23-11) with 28 points in a losing cause.

The loss might he hard to swallow for the Bucks, but Skiles is optimistic that they can avenge their defeat when the two team again meet on March 30 at their own home-floor.

South African golfing star Ernie Els won the CA Championship on Sunday with his 6-under 66 for a four-shot victory over compatriot Charl Schwartzel.
The win is first ever for the 40-year-old golf superstar after two years of waiting at Doral.
The victory is a big relief for Els who had long been longing the past 24 months for his first ever victory in a major golf tournament and broke his long losing streak.
With his first ever win in 2010, the golf superstar returned to his place among the elite in golf at No. 8 in the world and became only the fifth player to win multiple times in the World Golf Championships, joining Tiger Woods, Darren Clarke, Geoff Ogilvy and Phil Mickelson.
